An Amazing Wedding [Apr. 1st, 2007|12:19 am]
Making Comics Fifty State Tour

I will try to make this sort of short, well here goes:

So Kazu Kibuishi and Amy Kim Ganter asked Daddy about a year ago if he could officiate at their wedding. Well Dad said yes and since they were getting married when we weren't in California they flew us out to come to the wedding. This is of course why we are in California this week.

So we woke up at literally 6:00 in the morning. Everyone got ready and we got on the road. On the way there we picked up the mighty Paul Smith who was going to be joining us on our little trip. As we drove to the house the wedding was going to take place in we decided to stop at a Grocery Store to pick up a few things. Dad, Winter and Paul all decided to get some more breakfast so they went to a McDonalds near by. After going to the grocery store I went to the McDonalds and I could barely bring myself to walk into that place. I walked out immediately the first chance I got.

Then we showed up for the wedding a few hours early so Winter the flower girl and Daddy the officiator could both get ready.

The house was pretty and I wondered around the backyard and admired all the chairs and such set up for the wedding.

A few hours later the wedding started. Daddy did a very good speech and Amy and Kazu looked beautiful together. It was a pretty simple ceremony but it was also very moving.

Once the ceremony was over everyone started to talk and mingle. There were some hors d'oeuvres with fruit, veggies, cheese and such it was pretty veggie friendly.

I mingled some more and ate as well. At some point toasts began. They were all very sweet and loving comments.

Soon after we all left to go get food at a little table set up in the drive way. You could choose what veggies you wanted to put into the penne they had and then you would pick the sauce. I got pesto, which made me happy.

Then there was more eating and even slicing of the cake which was really tasty cake.

Then there was music and a bouquet tossing which I caught though I doubt I will be the next to be married.

Winter and I went in and played the Wii for a very long time. At one point a little girl I think name Elizabeth wanted to play and Winter and I tried to help her through it even though she was only about 2 or 3.

Awhile went by and Winter and Dad started a game of Settlers of Catan (with two other player of course). I talked to some more people and then I played some Wii again. For those who do not know Settlers of Catan is a very long game so we all had to wait awhile.

Eventually the game did finish and then all of the people in our gang was talking to people in the party and some of them were playing on the Wii.

Pizza arrived some time around 8:00 or so and I had a veggie slice. After a long while our gang which Daddy's agent Judy had now joined said good bye to everyone we could find that we wanted to formally say good bye to.

We dropped of Judy, then stopped at an am-pm to get Mom Dr. Pepper and then we dropped Paul off and drove back to the hotel. Having just completed a 13 hour day of nonstop action.

ps- go vote 24 more to go people.

Sounds like a very cool wedding! Glad you had a good time.

I don't even have a TV or get a TV feed of any kind and I voted - I must like/trust you people or something. :)

that is so cool, playing boardgames at a wedding reception. I want a geektacular wedding reception like that someday. :)
Glad that you had fun!

Pesto rocks! We're members of a local organic CSA; every fall, I help the farm deal with (harvest or plant) garlic, and they pay me in spare heads. Then I pick tons of fresh basil, buy cheese & pine nuts & EVOO at WFM, and unearth the food processor. We've got frozen pesto from last September to thaw whenever we need a hit!

So, who won the Settlers game? Was it regular Settlers or Cities and Knights? My wife's sister will arriving tonight, so we'll probably be playing a few times this weekend.
